-Contains an explanation regarding how this component (any aspect of it; eg content of videos, content of websites) connects to your study of humanities. .25 point
This content relates to our study of Humanities because I am learning about all kinds of different cultures and it is fun learning about things all over California because I have lived here my whole life and it is very interesting to learn.
-Contains the following elements that will be used in upcoming projects for analytical purposes:
What are some assumptions/stereotypes you think people have of each location: 1 point
People say Chico State is "party" college. All people do there is party I have a hard time believing that because I know someone that goes and yes she parties but not all the time like I heard people do when they go there. Fresno I have heard is a place for a lot of gangster people like you should watch your surroundings when you are there you never know.
-List 3 things that make each location similar: 1 point
Both Chico and Fresno are pretty big areas, they both have a high crime rate,
-Questioning: What else would you like to know about these places? When completing the question section, lead your audience into the question by stating a fact you do know, yet you still have the related question. This way, both your audience and you will have an educational experience. .5 point
I would like to know what the living situation is like in Chico and Fresno. I know that Fresno and Chico are big cities however I would still like to know what the weather is like in each place.
-Using your classmates work from last week, tell us one thing you learned from 1 student. Is this one thing some common experience you share or some experience that is completely different than what you experienced? Is this one thing related to our class theoretical foundation and if so, how? Is that one thing related to historical or cultural context of this country or a different one? Link that persons blog to this entry (eg cut paste that blog entry here) . .5 point
The person I picked to write about is Granville R. Morris and the 1 thing I learned about this person is that he lived on a couple different beautiful beaches.

For hundreds of years all sorts of Native Americans were trying to take over the island of Alcatraz. On November 24, 1969 a group of 80 Native Americans from 20 different tribes overtook the island of Alcatraz. Alcatraz gained mometum and became a movement with about one hundred and fifty native american occupiers.
Contains the following "analytical elements":
Observation: What did you choose? What do you see or hear or feel or think of in the choice you made? What is the subject of the work? If you chose a 'thing' what is the work made of and what techniques (colors, lines, shapes, textures)does the creator use? Be specific in your description. If you chose a place, be specific in your description of what you see or hear. Talk to your reader as though they cannot see the item but somehow must draw a painting of what you see or hear. 1 point
I chose Alcatraz in San Francisco. I see jail cells and prizon mates and guards looking after the prizon mates. I hear prizon mates screaming trying to get out of their cells. When I think of Alcatraz I think of a scary place I have been there before and I thought it was a dark and scary place to be. The subject of the work is basically the guards just going around and checking on the prizoners and making sure no one is getting in trouble. Alcatraz is a place for bad people to go when they do stupid stuff.
Interpretation: What is your choice about? Give specific examples to support this statement in 2 sentences; do so in a way that teaches us something about your choice. Make Paulo Freire proud! .75 point
I thought Alcatraz would be an interesting place to write about because there is a lot of different cultures and backgrounds there. All kinds of people are sent there from different races. Alcatraz is a fun but can be scary place to visit.
Judgment: What led you to your choice? What do you think or feel about this choice? Why do you feel this way? Support your thoughts with specific observations. .5 point
When I was choosing a place to write about I knew I wanted to write about a place in San Francisco so I just thought of a historical place I have been before. I think I made the right choice because there is so much to write about. I feel this way because I just know I made the right choice of writing about Alcatraz.
Questioning: What else would you like to know about this choice? When completing the question section, lead your audience into the question by stating a fact you do know, yet you still have the related question. This way, both your audience and you will have an educational experience. Example: I learned that John Steinbeck's Grapes of Wrath was based on his personal experience working with farm workers. I would like to know if the characters he used in that book are fictitious or are they people he met? .5 point
I would still like to know what year the first prizoner was sent to Alcatraz. I learned that Alcatraz was overtook by Native Americans. I would like to know how many Native Americans all together was overtook by Native Americans.

I read Dana's work and I found that we both picked something from San Francisco for our last weeks homework.
