The cable car was founded in 1869 by Andrew Smith Hallidie. He tested it out on clay street in San Francisco in 1873. There were so many people that helped to put together the cable car and make it a huge success. By September 1st 1873 it was finished and a great success. All San Francisco companies had put together 53 miles of track all over San Francisco.

I chose The San Francisco Cable Car Museum. I see Cable Cars everywhere from hundreds of years ago and history that goes with each one. I have never been to this museum before but it sounds interesting. When I think of this museum I think of how fun it would be to visit this historical museum. The subject of the work is the cable car.

My choice is about cable cars and the history behind them and how they got started. They were developed in the late 1800's. It is amazing because they were founded right in San Francisco on Clay St.

I thought a museum about cable cars was the most interesting choice because they started a long time ago in the 1800's. They seem interesting to learn about because it is a car that is ran by cables all through the city.
Questioning: What else would you like to know about this choice? When completing the question section, lead your audience into the question by stating a fact you do know, yet you still have the related question. This way, both your audience and you will have an educational experience. Example: I learned that John Steinbeck's Grapes of Wrath was based on his personal experience working with farm workers. I would like to know if the characters he used in that book are fictitious or are they people he met?
I would like to know how a cable car only runs on just a cable. I have learned that cable cars were created in San Francisco by one single man. I would like to know how these people or person put it together so it would go on a cable.

The person I picked is Lori because i noticed we both picked San Francisco for last weeks homework. I was not born there like she was but I used to go there every weekend because I had friends there so in a way thats something we both have in common.

2a San Francisco

San Francisco connects to my study of Humanities because it has so many different cultures and ethnic backgrounds to be found there. There are a lot of cultural and educational things to learn there.
Observation:
a. The place I chose was San Francisco. What I see when I see of San Francisco is lots and lots of people from all over the world. There is always something going on. What I hear is car horns, trollys, horses galloping, laughter. I feel the wind blowing in my hair. I think of fun, and great food, going on a boat ride to angel island, and just walking around and going to all the neat shops. The subject of the work I chose is San Francisco. In San Francisco there are so many things to do for all kinds of people. For example: shopping, visiting neat and ancient buildings, walking across the Golden Gate Bridge,and so much more.
Interpretation:
b. My choice is all about the different things in San Francisco. Almost everytime I go to San Francisco I end up doing something new. There are so many fun things I would like to do still. For Example: I would like to try going on a horse and caridge ride someday, or going on a cablecar, or maybe someday walking across the Golden Gate Bridge, those are things I have not tried but would really like to. San Francisco is a very educational and exciting place to go.
Judgment:
c. What led me to choosing San Francisco was just thinking of one of the funnest places I have been to that I know a lot about and I have been there more than once. I think I did good on my choice because that is the one place in California I have been to a lot and I know a lot of places there and I know that there are a lot of different cultures there. I feel this way because I am really familiar with this place. San Francisco was the place my family and I went to if we were looking for something to do that day.
Questioning:
d. About San Francisco I would like to know is, why is the weather pretty much the same all year around. It is cloudy and cold almost all year around. The weather is somewhat miserable over there, it is a fun place but it is always cold. I would like to know why it is always cold and cloudy.
The one person I chose is Katherine. The one thing I learned from her is that we both took this class because it fits into our lives and we need for what we want our carreer to be. She seems to have a more complicated life than I do because she has kids but I have a pretty busy life also.

Assignment 1c
1. The two people I chose to write about are Katy and Anthony Frye. When Katy thinks of California she thinks of a melting pot of people from all different backgrounds. Anthony lives 16.78 miles away from the Santa Rosa Junior College.
2. I learned from Katy that Freire explored the idea that students are empty banks accounts that teachers deposit information into, Freire rejects that way of thinking and called it "dehumanization of teacher and student." He believed that overcoming problems in ones society such as, through learning, unity and organization that these steps could liberate human beings.
I learned from Anthony that Freire wanted his countrymen to do more than just read and write, he wanted them to understand and get involved with the political process.
He stated that dialogue was more than just understanding, it was about making a difference in the world.

Assignment 1b
Paulo Freire was born on September 19, 1921. Freire was appointed Director of Cultural Extension of Racife University in the year 1961. He taught 300 sugarcane workers to read and write in just 45 days in 1962. The Brazilian Government approved the creation of thousands of cultural circles across the country in response to this experience. In 1964, a military coup stopped that effort and imprisoned him for 70 days.
Frerie came out with his first book, Education as the Practice of Freedom in the year 1967. His most famous book was published in 1968 and was called Pedagogy of the oppressed, it was published in Portugese.
In the city of Sao Paulo, Paulo Frerie joined the Workers Party (PT). From 1980-1986 he acted as a supervisor for the (PT) adult literacy project. In 1988 the (PT) was prevailed in the municipal elections and Frerie was appointed Secretary of Education for Sao Paulo. Paulo Frerie died on May 2nd, 1997.
